Lorna vs. Deer

You think the car looks bad........ you should see the deer.

Last night I came upon a crack suicide deer, who (with no regards to traffic laws) leaped out of the woods into my path. I hit an adult doe at about 55 mph.

Later that day I heard that rutting season had just started. For those of you who are not aware of what rutting season is, here are the cliff notes on rut.

"During their so-called "rut," which generally lasts from October to
December, males go crazy. Their libido rises and they lose all caution,
searching for females in a frantic effort to breed. This sends females on the
run.

Naturally this results in moose and deer, chasing and being chased,
cross roads. And when that happens, collisions with cars are inevitable. "

I have only one thing to say to all the suicidal, accident causing, horny deer out there......Venison will be my revenge.

Pepsi and Live Bait anyone?

This was too funny not to post. Today I was out in the middle of nowhere taking some picts. I had to stop at a gas station for directions to where I was trying to go. As I pulled in I saw a couple vending machines, the first one was a Pepsi vending machine, nothing unusual there. The second was a live bait vending machine. I laughed so hard I had to get my camera and take a few shots. Anyone feeling like some Pepsi and Live Bait?

Love Them Wheels

He's a Genius

So Grandpa Tato sent Dean some puzzles for Christmas. Being that he has no clue when Christmas is, I decided to give them to him early. At first I gave all 4 puzzles to him, big mistake. He took all the pieces and started throwing them around the living room. So I thought, ok, maybe he is still too small for puzzles and I put them away.

The next day he grabbed my hand and took me over to the puzzles and pointed at them. So I said "ok, but you can only have one".

I took the puzzle and put it on the floor, this video shows what happened next.

Could There Be Something Better Than ICE CREAM?

I dont like yogurt, it just tastes weird. I found myself at McDonald's the other day, unusual place for me to be at, not so unusual when you have a 1 year old that loves nuggets. Anyway, even though it was snowing outside, I felt like eating some ice cream. So I walk over to the counter and see this cup of vanilla ice cream, with strawberries, and granola. I order it because it looks darn yummy. I was not fooled, this thing I was tasting WAS NOT ICE CREAM. However, my taste buds did not complain, this white creamy substance tasted darn good. But WHAT IS IT? Come to find out, I am eating yogurt. Since that day I have replaced my daily bowl of ice cream/strawberries/whipped cream/nuts with a cup of yogurt/strawberries/granola. HEY! at least its healthier!!!!!!!!!!!

I still do not like the taste of yogurt by itself, but something about the mixture of yogurt, strawberries and granola that I just love. I might, just might dare to say that it tastes better than ice cream.

Our Little Slice of Heaven

We went to the cabin today after church. Everytime we pull up to the driveway my heart jumps for joy. I love it there. There is such a sense of peace and serenity. It is still very surreal that in only a few weeks we get to call it HOME.

Today Tim was splitting some wood and everytime the maul hit the wood Dean would laugh histerically, it was the funniest thing. Oh How I Love Him!

Dean takes on Nursery

BIG DAY! So Dean turns 18 months in a few weeks. However, they usually ask the parents to come in with them a few weeks early to help the kids adjust to the change. Apparently kids have a hard time separating from their parents. WHO KNEW!

I went in with him for like 5 minutes and the Nursery President said "It seems like he is not going to have any trouble at all, I guess you can leave". HAHA, as soon as that Nursery door opened he was in there playing with the toys and talking to the kids. Didnt even notice I was there, let alone notice I was gone.

So I got to enjoy my first Relief Society Lesson in a really long time. I love Relief Society and am consistently amazed at the Church and its perfect organizational structure. It is really uplifting to visit with the other women in Relief Society. I have never been able to be an active part of that because my callings have always kept me away, as I listened to the messages and the comments from the other sisters I couldnt help but think "This is the way its supposed to be".

Today's talks where amazing, something was pointed out that really stuck with me. All the talks that where given in General Conference mentioned in some way or another grief, trials, pains, the turbulous times we live in. However, the message was not that. The message was one of hope, peace, comfort.

As my boy entered into Nursery today, I couldnt help but see what lies ahead for him, how grateful I am for a knowledge of the Restored Gospel. How grateful I am to be able to teach him that in turbulous times he can have hope and joy. How comforted I am to know he will have Priesthood blessings in his life.

Photo Shoot

So, on Wednesday I had my very first Photo Shoot. I love childrens photography, it is like a adrenaline rush to try to capture that perfect moment in time while they run, and hop and jump around. It seems like its almost impossible to do and so rewarding when you get it. I am not going to post all the picts in here but you can view some of them at:

Halloween Party

10-19-08

Yesterday was the Halloween Party, it was such a blast. I will start by telling you what we dressed up as. Dean loves Blue's Clues so I bought him a little Blue's outfit. He looked so cute and it was really nice and warm.

So if Dean was going to be Blue, we needed a Joe. I bought Tim a red shirt and then sewed squares across the chest to look like Joe's shirt. It looked great.

So if Dean was Blue and Tim was Joe we needed the clues. So I made some paw prints out of felt and sewed them all over me and I was the clues.







All the kids dressed up, it was nice because usually all the outfits are homemade.
I will tell you some of my favorites:

The Howells: Dan and Rachell dressed up as farmers and their kids where all vegetables. Isaac was a carrot (my mistake for calling him a pumpkin), Luke was corn and Caleb was a tomato.




The Baldwins: Rob was a Prince Charming, Mareva was the Fairy God Mother, Kiki was a Princess and Pume a little mouse.




The Lombardos: Holly was a witch and Madisson was her cat. Dan dresses up as the Bishop, it was really funny.



We roasted hot dogs over the camp fire, went on a hayride, did trunk or treat and then the older kids had a donut eating contest.



It was a cold night, at least I though so, but it was really fun. I love how everyone gets in the spirit of halloween. I think the adults enjoy the dressing up more than the kids do.

CANON Lens Arrives

So yesterday was the day my new lens was to arrive. I was so anxious waiting for it all day. I felt like a school girl in love, waiting anxiously for her crush to walk through the door. Except instead of my crush it was the UPS guy. The moment I saw the UPS truck I felt my heart pounding harder and I ran to welcome him in.

The lens is HUGE, it weighs 6 lbs so I am having a hard time even holding it. But I love it, love it love it. I will be out shooting this weekend for sure and will post picts soon.

I REFUSE TO NAP

So, the other day I put Dean down for a nap, he fought me for like an hour so I just put him in his crib and said "too bad, you need to sleep". About 10 min later I hear a loud "THUMP" but didnt think much of it, thought he probably banged his head on the side of the crib.

A bit later I hear some of his toys go off, and hear some music. I start to think "thats weird I dont remember putting toys in his crib". I walk into his room and he is sitting there on the floor playing with his toys.

He obviously did not want to sleep and nobody was going to make him, so he JUMPED OUT OF HIS CRIB to play.

We Own a WHAT?

You would never have guessed it, we actually own a shotgun. Tim is becoming a hick and purchased his first ever shotgun. He is now taking his hunting safety course and is convinced we will be eating dear all winter long.

I was interested in taking the course myself. I took one shot the day we purchased it and my ears where ringing all day. That was the end of my enthusiasm.

GO PRO RUN

GO PRO's first advertisement event. We did the annual 5k walk/run at Letchworth park together with some friends. We all wore GO PRO tshirts.

The men went ahead of us and actually ran all the day, the women had to push the strollers. We finished proudly 52 min and 3 secs later.

How do I explain Bunco? Let’s see…the girls, no-kids, no-husbands, cards, dice, food, laughs, fun, more food, more laughs, more fun and repeat. Usually ends with me winning the prize for the most loses. Ironic huh? It’s about time I get rewarded for sucking at games.

A New Member To The Family

Hehehe, I thought that title would grab your attention.

We have opened up a new division of our company. GO PRO Web Solutions is now the new member of our TIO family. Our office has been newly renovated (by paint and furniture) and our staff is now at 6 with 2 more on the way.

To Grow or Not To Grow

Who would’ve thunket! After many, many, many failed attempts at trying to keep ANYTHING alive in AZ, I was seriously starting to worry for my son, if I can’t keep an immovable, boring little plant alive longer than a couple of days, how I am supposed to keep a squirmy, curious, adventurous little boy safe.

After a little hesitation, not knowing if I could take the heartache of losing an entire garden we planted our first garden this summer, and YES, months later it is still alive (and so is Dean). Not only is it alive but it has produced enough for us to eat, can and freeze. Which brings me to my next topic, this canning stuff….WAY COOL!

WE DID IT

We did it! After a year of arguing over our move to NY we finally did it. May 29th became the official date in which we became New Yorkers. I must admit Tim was right, I love it here. For a while we have been trying to find a place we could call home, and I think we have arrived.
